India: Abdul Qadir Dehlvi Derwaish Passes Away in Qadian


Maulana Mohammad Inaam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Qadian, led funeral prayer and thousands of Ahmadi Muslims joined in the Prayers.

Qadian: Abdul Qadir Dehlvi passed away here in Qadian after a long illness, it has been reported. He was 97 years old.

Dehlvi breathed his last at his residence at Ahmadiyya Colony and he was buried at Bahishti Maqbara on Teusday, January 15, 2014, afternoon.

Dehlvi came to Qadian as a volunteer at the call of the 2nd Khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Bashsir-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad, for the protections of Ahmadi families and the holy places of the community.

The volunteers who stayed back in Qadian at the time of India-Pak partition at the directions of their spiritual leader -- 313 in number -- came to be revered as elders and they were affectionately called Darwaish, a tile that signified their sense of selflessness.

Darwaish Dehlvi served in many departments of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat for a long time.

Maulana Mohammad Inaam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Qadian, led funeral prayer and thousands of Ahmadi Muslims joined in the Prayers.

Dehlvi was buried in the special area designated for Darwaishs. At the conclusion of the funeral services Maulana Ghori led mourners in silent prayers.

Abdul Qadir Dehlvi is survived by three sons and four daughters. Two of his sons, Noor-ud Din Ismael and Noor-ul Ameen, came from Germany to attend the services.

Darwaish Dehlvi was known for having met Pope John Paul and delivered the message that reformer of of this era, the Promised Messiah has appeared in Qadian, India. Reportedly  Dehlvi had also explained the true teachings of Islam and Ahmadiyyat to the Pope.
