Perspective: Quran directs fight against ISIS | Letter - Rizwan Dard

We look to our religious teachings to guide us, as in the Quran where it states: “And if two parties of believers fight each other, make peace between them; then if one of them transgresses against the other, fight the party that transgress...”

The so-called Islamic State in Syria and Iraq continues to shock the world with its acts of hatred and barbarity. Not only have they recently beheaded two Japanese men, they also burned alive the Jordanian pilot Moaz Kasasbeh.

For a demonic organization to perpetuate these acts in the name of Islam is disgusting and hurtful.

As a Muslim American, and like billions of Muslims worldwide, we condemn the evil behaviors of ISIS. We look to our religious teachings to guide us, as in the Quran where it states: "And if two parties of believers fight each other, make peace between them; then if one of them transgresses against the other, fight the party that transgress..." (49:10).

In line with the religious text above, the true Khalifa of Islam and supreme head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Community, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, said that the best way to quell the violence in the Middle East would be a UN coalition of solely Arab troops.

RIZWAN DARD,
