Effiduase (Ash) - The Ameer and Missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, has called for sincere and genuine cooperation among all stakeholders to lift the nation's education.
Alhaji Maulvi Noor Muhammed Bin Salih, said as partners, they should accept to work together towards the common goal of improving performance of the schools.
He was opening a five-day meeting of the Conference of Heads and Managers of Ahmadiyya Educational Institutions (CHAMAEIG) at Effiduase in the Sekyere East District.
'Ensuring Discipline and Academic Excellence in Ghanaian Schools: The Role of Heads and Managers of Schools,' was the theme.
Alhaji Maulvi Bin Salih spoke of the need for the managers and school heads to uphold best practices - discipline, transparency and hard work.
They should also do everything to sustain the peaceful co-existence among Muslims and followers of other religious faiths.
Professor Mrs. Ibok N. Oduro, of the Department of Food Science and Technology College of Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), advised teachers to attach importance to good character training.
They should not only focus on academic excellence, but equally importantly, aid their students to grow up with strong moral values.
She reminded them to be fair and even-handed in their enforcement of school regulations.
Prof Mrs. Oduro called for the strengthening of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTA), to enhance the management of the schools.
Mr Jacob A.M. Kor, Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), in a message, encouraged high level of tolerance among the various religious faiths.
This, he said, was necessary not only to promote peaceful atmosphere for teaching and learning, but to also protect the secular nature of the nation.
Nana Dr Susubribi Krobea Asante, Omanhene of the Asokore Traditional Area, praised the Mission for its significant contributions to the development of education.
Hajia Alimatu Tampuri, General Manager of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Educational Unit, advised them to step up supervision in schools, and to make regular and prompt submission of their reports.
