India: Jamia Ahmadiyya Qadian student drowns in Beas River


Wasim Ahmad had come to Qadian for higher studies and to pursue a degree in comparative religions. He was studying at Ahmadiyya Institute of Languages and Theology, the Jamia Ahmadiyya, in Qadian.

Qadian: An Ahmadiyya theology student drowned today in the Beas Rivar near Mari Buchian village outside Qadian and his body has not be recovered as of this report.

Victim was identified as Wasim Ahmad son of Mohammad Nazeer who hailed from Wadhwan in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh state.

Wasim Ahmad had come to Qadian for higher studies and to pursue a degree in comparative religions. He was studying at Ahmadiyya Institute of Languages and Theology, the Jamia Ahmadiyya, in Qadian.

Ahmad was part of a student and faculty group that went for a picnic at the Beas River.

The incident reportedly occurred around noon and a rescue operation was immediately mobilized by a large number of volunteers from Qadian.

After hours of search, the victim could not be located and he was presumed drowned. However the efforts to recover the body has continued into late evening hours.
