Worship God alone and serve the humanity: Imam Sahamshad
Some sixty people came to listen to Imam Shamshad and heard his lecture on the teachings of the Holy Quran.
Mr. Ibrahim, secretary of the Sierra Leonean organization introduced Imam Shamshad followed by a welcome address by Mr. Iqbal, the group's president.
Imam Shamshad addressed the gathering and explained that it is his love and affection for the people of Sierra Leone that brought him to meet them.
"I had opportunity to serve as a missionary for 4 years in Sierra Leone during 1980's," said Imam Shamshad. "The love and affection that I was shown during my stay in you country has stayed with me."
"And, for that matter," Imam said, "I also want to always reciprocate that love by establishing relationship with Sierra Leonean community wherever I serve as an Ahmadiyya Muslim missionary."
Imam said he has traveled extensively in the country of Sierra Leone from Freetown to Kanema, Kabala, Sifadu Bo and Rukupur.
The people at the event were astonished as to how much Imam knows about their country and listened to him with profound interest.
In his advice to the group about the teachings of the Holy Quran, Imam explained that it is very important to know why God Almighty has created human beings on the earth; and that is, as God says, “for My worship alone."
"So we should all follow the commandments of God and try our best to offer five times daily prayers, as directed in the Holy Quran and practiced by the Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be on him)," Imam advised. "It is also important that we should help the needy and poor people of the community."
Imam explained that Islam teaches Muslims to be always at the forefront to serve the humanity.
"It is under this commandment," Imam said, "the Ahmadiyya Muslim mission establishes schools and hospitals for the benefit of people of Africa."
Imam Shamshad extended invitation to the Sierra Leonean community to visit Baitul Jamaay mosque and offered to host their community's up-coming Independence Day celebrations.
The president of the community, Mr. Iqbal, the chief imam, Mr Kahloon, and other members thanked Imam Shamshad and requested him to provide some copies of the holy Quran with English translation.
Imam Shamshad thanked the organization for their hospitality and promised that Ahmadiyya Mission will provide copies of the Holy Quran for any and all interested .
