These violent messages carried over the airwaves and the Internet will only lead to hatred and violence.
Judge John Koeltl ruled that the display of anti-Islam ads on public buses that were produced by Pamela Geller and her group is protected under the First Amendment. The ad shows a man with a scarf across his face next to the words, “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah,” attributed to “Hamas MTV.” Below that, it is written: “That’s his Jihad. What’s yours?” How can Pamela Geller, call the ruling a “triumph for liberty and truth” while the ad is based on falsehood and against the actual teachings of Islam?
People who express these offensive views defend themselves under the flag of “Free Speech”. The truth is that in this case freedom of speech has been replaced by “Hate Speech”.
These heinous and violent messages carried over the airwaves and the Internet will only lead to hatred, enmity and violence. The freedom which leads to animosity and does not respect other’s freedom cannot be justified under the First Amendment. We, the citizens of this country should discourage hatred and advocate peace, harmony and mutual respect instead.
