India: Ahmadiyya Relief Team from Qadian Aids Earthquake Victims in Nepal

Qadian --/ An all volunteer relief team of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of India is in Nepal to aid and assist the victims of a devastating 8.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal around midday on April 25,  killing thousands of people and leaving tens of thousands injured and homeless.

According to a press statement issued at the community's headquarters in Qadian, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at India extended its deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of the earthquake and expressed grief over the high number of casualties.

K. Tarique Ahmad, in-charge Press & Media, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in Qadian, said that a volunteer relief team of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at had already left Qadian for Kathmandu on April 28, 2015 to help the victims of the earthquake.

The Disaster Response Team of Humanity First UK, an organization of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, has also reached Nepal to respond to this highly challenging situation.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at expressed that it stands with the Government of Nepal and India and the community is always ready to render all needed assistance for the victims of the Nepal earthquake.

"The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at believes that serving humanity is an obligation and it feels the pain of others and is ready to serve humanity without any discrimination of caste, creed and religion," the community said in its statement.

Naveed Ahmad Fazal, an Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization representative, also told that 10 youths (Khudam) from Qadian are engaged in relief work in Nepal as well.

Fazal reported that the earthquake in Nepal has brought the normal life there to a complete halt and many people are living under the open sky, waiting for food and drinking water.
