Today Ireland is holding a referendum on "marriage equality" rights.
It is the first country in the world to hold a referendum to decide on whether or not the state should allow gay marriage.
If passed, the right of gay couples to marry will be incorporated into the Republic’s constitution.
From practicing Muslims' point of view, who believe in God and His scriptures, they believe that the every one is born equal, but one should follow the commandments of God the Almighty included in the Holy Books.
Imam Ibrahim Ahmad Noonan of Galway's Maryam Mosque issued a statement today siding with 'No' vote and asking people of all faith to not challenge God.
"Ireland has always held a prestigious place in the world for its loyalty and its fidelity towards God," wrote Imam Noonan who leads the Ahmadiyya Muslim community of Ireland. "I call on all religious people and those who claim to believe in a living God to put your trust in Him who has created us and who truly knows mankind's purpose."
"To vote 'Yes' is to challenge God! To vote 'No' is to obey God and secure Ireland's grace," Imam added
Other faith groups are mobilizing their flock also to vote down the measure.
"Across the key battleground of Dublin, evangelical and Pentecostal pastors are actively encouraging their congregations to vote no," reads one media report in Irish Times. "Campaigners for a No vote claim that in a tight contest their votes will be crucial to the outcome."
