Ireland: Galway Interfaith Conference concludes with promise to continue efforts for permanent peace


The conference, which focused on Religion, Freedom and Peace, brought different faiths together to address and discuss the topic.

9th Annual Interfaith Peace Conference hosted by Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Ireland at Galway Maryam Mosque on Sunday 17th of May concluded with prayers and promises to continue to hold more events like this.

The conference, which focused on Religion, Freedom and Peace, brought different faiths together to address and discuss the topic.

This is the first time that the conference was held in the Galway Mosque after its inauguration in September 2014.

President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Ireland Mr.M. Anwar Malik, Mr. Eamon O Cuiv, Father Barry Horan, Mr. Richard Kimble and Imam Ibrahim Ahmad Noonan spoke to the full house gathering.

Other noticeable guests present among the gathering were Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh, Cllr Mairead Farrell, Cllr Anna Marley, Dr. Mamoon Rashid (president of community for West of Ireland), Mr. Rabib Ahmad Mirza (Ahmadiyya Missionary for East of Ireland) and members from Galway An Garda Siochana.

The full house event was attended by eight different nationalities from different walks of life.

The controversial issue of the same sex marriage was put to the Imam of Galway Mosque, who was asked the Islamic position on the issue.

After a logical, rational and theological reasoning, position of Islam was given as to why a No vote is favorable.

Senators Trevor responded with explaining why Yes Vote is appropriate.

Everyone agreed that the equality for everyone is a desire but religion should be given respect.

Imam of Galway Mosque, Ibrahim Ahmad Noonan, advocated and promised that Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is loyal to the country it is established in and its members will be on the frontline if they are needed to defend Ireland.
