Qadian: The world is celebrating International Yoga Day today — an initiative by the Narendra Modi government.
International Yoga Day was observed here in Qadian also today where Rajya Sabah Member (MP) and vice president of Bhartia Janta Party, Honourable Avinash Rai Khanna participated in the Yoga camp held at Ahmadiyya Grounds.
Maulana Mohammad Inam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of India was also present in the camp where nearly five hundred Ahmadi Muslims had gathered for the observation.
The camp started with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
While talking to the media, MP Khanna said he was pleased to participate in the Yoga Camp attended by a large numbers of Ahmadiyya Muslims.
He said he realizes its the month of Ramdhan and during the fast it is very difficult to sit continuously in the hot weather.
Khanna appreciated the spirit of Muslims.
The United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014 declared June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga.
The declaration of this day, according to Wikipedia, came after the call for the adoption of 21 June as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014.
