The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Northern Region will hold the first national Peace Symposium in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of its fourth conference on Islamic Education and Moral Training.
The symposium which will be held tomorrow, June 6, at the International Conference Center, ICC, is central to the theme of the conference “Religion, Peace and National Unity”.
To underscore the significance of the event, a former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdul Salami Abubakar (retd) is to receive a National Peace Award, going by his contributions and others, to the successful outcome of the recent general election in the country.

According to the Deputy Leader,( Naib Amir North), Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, the Head of the Islamic organisation in Nigeria, (Amir), Dr. Mashood A. Fashola and other distinguished scholars across different religions and faiths will constitute a panel of discussants on the theme of the conference.
The conference is part of the Jama’at’s efforts at educating her members and the public on Islamic perspective on the contemporary challenges of our time, particularly, the challenges of “Morality, Peace and Security”. The occasion will also be used to promote the spirit of friendship, inter-faith understanding, and good neighbourliness as well as spiritual and moral development of all.
Guests are expected within and outside the country. Members of the Ahmadiyya Community throughout Nigeria, especially those in the Northern Region are mandated to attend.
