India: Mohammad Yusuf Derwaish Passes Away in Qadian After Prolonged Illness


Maulana Mohammad Inaam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat India, led the funeral prayers at the Bahishti Maqbra cemetery where a large number of Ahmadi Muslims had gathered for the interment rituals.

Qadian: Mohammad Yusuf Derwaish died here in Qadian today morning after a prolonged illness.

He was 95 years old.

Mohammad Yusuf, who came to Qadian in the 1940s to help protect the Ahmadiyya historical places during the time of Indo-Pak partition on the appeal of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mehmood Ahmad, the late leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, received the title of 'Derwaish' for the selfless sacrifice.

The group of devotees who moved to Qadian on the community leader's call are affectionately known as Derweeshn-e Qadian.

Mohammad Yusuf Derwaish served as a teacher of Ja'mia Ahmadiyya Qadian for many years.

Maulana Mohammad Inaam Ghori, Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat India, led the funeral prayers at the Bahishti Maqbra cemetery where a large number of Ahmadi Muslims had gathered for the interment rituals.

After the funeral prayers, Derwaish Yusuf was buried in the special part of the cemetery reserved for Derweeshn-e Qadian.

After the closing of the grave, Maulana Inam Ghori led all present in silent prayers in  took part in it.

On this occasion a large number of Hindu and Sikh people were also present in Bahishti Maqbra.
