AMRITSAR: This time Rakhi is not just a festival to be celebrate by Hindus and Sikhs alone , but for the Pakistani bride Tahira Zahur, the festival of Rakhi has brought an opportunity to call upon Pakistani brothers in power to stop encouraging terrorists operating from Pak soil to play havoc in India and instead establish permanent cordial relations for the peaceful existence of their sisters living in India.

"Dinanagar terror attack has moved me so much so that I am unable to believe that the terrorists came from same country where I came" said Tahira while talking to TOI on Thursday. Dinangar is less than forty kilometres from Qadian.

Resident of Faislabad in Pakistan, Tahaira was married to Chaudhary Maqbool Ahmad in 2003 and shifted to Qadian, international headquarters of Ahmadiyya Muslim sect India , in Gurdaspur district.

As a girl who was born in Pakistan and married to India, she said she felt her moral responsibility to do her bit for bringing both countries closer.

On Thursday, Tahira bought Rakhi's from Qadian market to send her to three brothers living in Faislabad in Pakistan.

"It is a symbolic gesture to tell my brothers in Pakistan that their sisters here need to live in peace and it is their responsibility to stand up against the terror" said Tahira.

She said she had read numerous tales associated with Rakhi festival both in history and mythology . "If queen Karmawati of Chittorgarh can send rakhi to mughal emperor Humanyun seeking his help, then why can't I send rakhi to my brother in Pakistan" she questioned.

And the motivation behind Tahira is her husband Maqbool Ahmad. He said the festival of rakhi is not just a religious affair but it symbolizes the love between brothers and sisters. "My wife's gesture will at least begin a thought process in the hearts of Pakistani people "he said adding that he expected common Pakistani to raise their voice against terror network operating form their soil against India and widowing sisters.
