Muslims from Peterborough were part of a group of 35,000 who attended a three-day convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Hampshire .

The group, including Dr Ubaid Khattak, Irfan Ahmed and Tanveer Ahmed (pictured) affirmed their commitment to peace and their loyalty to the country with the Union Jack hoisted up. They were also reminded by their world leader, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, that promoting peace and rejecting extremism was a true part of their faith.

Naeem Mian, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslims in Peterborough, said: “It was inspirational for all the members from Peterborough who attended the convention to hear from our world leader his commitment to international peace and his promotion of the true teachings of Islam.

“As Muslims, we remain focussed on doing good works, supporting charitable causes and fostering good relations between all communities. We are united in our efforts with everyone else in countering extremism.”
