Muslims throughout the country today joined others all over the world to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, the feast of sacrifice.
Eid-Ul-Adha is celebrated annually in memory of Prophet Ibrahim and his act of submission to sacrifice his son to God.
The celebration also marks the end of the Hajj, pilgrimage to Mecca.
From the Ashanti region, our correspondent reports that the Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission, Maulvi Abdul Hamid Tahir, has reminded Muslims that each of them has a right to join any political party of his or her choice or vote for anybody aspiring for a political office in the country.
However, they have a religious obligation to refrain from any act of violence or tendency capable of creating anarchy in the society.
Maulvi Tahir again reminded Muslims, particularly the Ahmadis of their responsibility to always intercede spiritually for the prosperity and peace of their homeland while submitting to the political, religious and local leaders.
Teshie Eid-Ul-Adha
About 500 Muslims this morning gathered at the Teshie Library Park to pray for continuous peace and the abundance of Allah's grace for the coming year.
Led by the Teshie Chief Imam, Alhaji Ibrahim Amartey, they thanked Allah for His mercies and prayed that He bestow on them, the blessings bestowed on Prophet Ibrahim for sacrificing on the altar of Allah.
He said the sacrifice aims at enhancing peaceful co-existence among Muslims and Ghanaians at large.
On the involvement of some youth in the militant group ISIS, Alhaji Amartey said Muslims should not associate themselves with such acts and entreated the youth to continue to ensure peace at all levels. A ram was slaughtered to mark the celebration.
Tema Eid-Ul-Adha
The Greater Accra Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Mosque at Tema Community five, Maulvi Raghib Zia-ul Haq has advised Muslims to desist from acts that are contrary to the tenets of their religion.
He said the Muslim Religion stands for peace, love, unity and harmony.
Speaking to Radio Ghana on the celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha, Maulvi Zia-ul Haq said it is about time Muslims showed compassion to the needy in society, rather than seeking selfish gains.
