Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at (AMJ) Sri Lanka sends message of condolence at the passing away of Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the Kotte Naga Viharaan, who passed away on November 8 at while receiving treatment at a hospital in Singapore.
"On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Sri Lanka, we extend condolences on the passing of the Venerable Madhuluwawe Sobitha Thero, who fought for a just society," wrote A.Abdul Aziz, Press Secretary, AMJ Sri Lanka in a press statement.
According to Aziz, Ven. Sobitha Thero was a prelate who gave leadership to various social movements and sacrificed his time and energies for the betterment of the society. "Ven. Sobitha Thero protected the dignity of social political life until the end of his life, we observed."
"May his soul rest in peace."
Ven. Sobitha Thero, an influential Sinhalese Buddhist monk, was a prominent socialist and social justice activist who led several nonviolent revolutionary campaigns several times.
