An Ahmadi Muslim student from Clapham, a residential suburb of Adelaide, has topped the board in his final year (year 12) examinations.

Khizar Rana received Perfect Marks - 99.95 / 99.95 - out of nearly 15,000 students in South Australia.

Rana is also receiving the Governor's Commendation award for his efforts.

“The key was being organised and meeting deadlines," said Rana who aims to pursue medicine in following his father's footsteps. "When you get an assignment you need to work on it as soon as you can."

Kizar's father, Munawar A. Rana, who is an anesthesiologist, expressed great pride in his son's success.

"Very proud of my son, Khizar. 5 SACE merits & 99.95/99.95 score in his year 12 studies," Dr Rana wrote in his Twitter post.
