Whilst many people will be fast asleep after the new year festivities; the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's youth in Auckland will be up early in the morning to offer prayers for peace and harmony in the world.
According to their yearly tradition, the volunteers plan to spread out in the city and clean up places needing attention in Missions Bay area.
"Whilst fighting the negative image of Islam presented by the extremist 'so-called Muslims'," Mustenser Qamar of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said, adding, "we will show our love for our country by helping clean up Missions Bay in Auckland early in the morning."
Qamar said their aim is to dispel the negative image of Islam with the message of 'Love for All, Hatred for none'.
"If you are awake and pass by make sure you give us a wave!"
In the past years, the Auckland Council had happily supplied the youths with gloves, litter grabbers, brooms and bin bags to make it all possible.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions.
The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987 and it is a registered charitable organisation and endeavors to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.
