Perspective: We found freedom | Amatul Khalid
With current circumstances our freedom is in jeopardy. I pray for the next generations, our grandchildren and their children. May God protect this safe haven for all of us and our generations. Amen.

Land of the free, home of the brave. Freedom land. We can practice our religion with no judgment no restrictions. We have equal rights, equal opportunity. That's what made me to come to the USA 26 years ago with my two daughters.
Previously, religious persecution made our lives difficult -- we could not express our faith, could not keep our names, could not call our mosques “mosques” or go to the mosque. When I left the house in the morning I was not sure if I would come back home alive.
As we put our foot on this land 26 years ago, we were able to breathe, able to practice our religion and go to the mosque without an fear.
We have enjoyed more than 26 years of freedom and equal opportunity.
We are loyal US citizens -- we respect each and every citizen of this country. We have seen true Islam being practiced here; true Islam -- the message of peace and security for not only every human being but also for every living thing on this earth.
With current circumstances our freedom is in jeopardy. I pray for the next generations, our grandchildren and their children. May God protect this safe haven for all of us and our generations. Amen.
Let us work hard to keep our freedom. Protect our rights.
Let us keep an open eye to the extremists around us who are making this haven insecure for all of us. Let us pray for the peace and security of this land and of the whole world.
Let us be the protectors of this "land of the free" and be part of saving our freedom.
Amatul Khalid,
Chambersburg
