Qadian -- Bashir Ahmad Kala Afghana Derwaish passed away here in Qadian today. He was 88 years old.
Derwaish breathed his last at around 2:30 in the morning in Noor Hospital after he had complained about breathing difficulty and suffered a severe heart attack while receiving the breathing treatment.
Bashir Ahmad, who belongs to Kala Afghana, a village in Tehsil Batala of Gurdaspur District, devoted his whole life for the service of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.
In mid-1940s Bashir Ahmad came to Qadian on the call of late Hazrat Mirza Bashir-ud Din Mehmood Ahmad 2nd Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, to protect the holy places at the time of the Indo-Pak partition.
The 313 devotees who settled in Qadian to serve and protect the holy sites came to be known as Darweshan-e Qadian.
Derwaish is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. His son Shoaib Ahmad serves as Afsar Jalsa Salana Qadian while her daughter is married to Qari Nawab Ahmad, Ex-Sadr Majlis Ansarullah Bharat.
Derwaish Bashir Ahmad will be buried at Bahishti Maqbra Qadian.
