Canada’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community is throwing open the doors to mosques across the country in an effort to foster a greater understanding of Islam.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at Canada will launch its nationwide Visit a Mosque campaign Sunday, March 6.
“This campaign provides an excellent opportunity for Canadians to meet their Muslim neighbours, friends and fellow citizens, and learn how Muslims truly live and practice their religion,” said Lal Khan Malik, national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at of Canada. “Many misconceptions have crept into the minds of people due to the unfortunate behaviour of a fringe minority. This initiative allows Canadians to meet and interact with Muslims on a personal level and truly understand our beliefs.”
Local chapters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama`at will be hosting events at their respective mosques and prayer centres with information and visual exhibitions regarding Islam, as well as hosting meet and greets with community leaders and members
Vaughan’s Baitul Islam Mosque, 10610 Jane St., will be participating in the campaign.
