Grateful for having been thought the academic rigor and discipline
From the likes of Lamin Leigh, who went through the prestigious Cambridge and Oxford Universities before landing a job at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a respected Economist; to former University of The Gambia Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammdou Kah, who now works at a leading modern university in oil-rich Azerbaijan, graduates of what used to be called Nusrat High School and now Nusrat Senior Secondary school, have indeed made their mark in the world with flying colours.
The current Statistician General of The Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS), Nyakassi M.B Sanyang, among many prominent Gambians also went through this private secondary school established in The Gambia by the Ahmadiyya Jamaat in 1971.
In the music scene as well, two of the hottest stars shaking the stage to popular acclaim are also graduates of Nusrat. Barham Cham could be credited for his golden voice behind the current frenzy surrounding Bai Babu's Malaw collabo with the Senegalese star Pape Diouf. Barham did the Fahass hit-track with Bai Babu to popular acclaim before Pape Diouf fell in love with Bai Babu's rap lyrics which were later incorporated into Malaw.
Another is one of the country's phenomenal and hottest talents called ST aka Brikama Boyo. Of his many conscious lyrics still trending, the hit track Distinction will count among the best of his career. Donning the uniform of his former school Nusrat, ST spits lyrical wisdom on social issues to enlighten and motivate young people in this video.
As ST shines with distinction in the music scene, the phenomenal star and his fellow alumni of Nusrat Senior Secondary School, making their mark around the world in global history, will perhaps be grateful for having been thought the academic rigor and discipline of a school whose track record could only be described using one word.
