Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia has held their 40th Jalsa Salana Annual Convention at Masroor Senior Secondary School in Old Yundum on Friday and Saturday.
Organisers said the purpose of the convention was “the revival of Islam”.
“Part of this purpose is to make people understand the Holy Book and act upon it,” said Baba F. Trawally, Amir of the Jamaat in The Gambia.
He further added that the ultimate objective of worship is to establish an unbreakable relationship and communion with Allah Almighty.
“This objective is unattainable without His guidance,” he said.“Therefore, when a man reaches a stage of intellectual maturity and had the capacity to worship, he should worship Him.”
Amir Trawally said the prophets, starting from Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), as the first prophet should be looked up to for moral, spiritual and social development.
“There was no contradiction in the functions of the prophets and messengers; all of them had only one objective which is the establishment of the unity and worship of Allah, the Almighty,” he said, adding that prophets were sent to nations and tribes based on the needs of the time.
The leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia said: “The earlier prophets, in a way, came to prepare the ground for the appearance of a Universal Prophet whose mission was not meant for a particular nation or tribe but for the entire humanity.
“The universal prophethood was fulfilled by the holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (SAW).His coming was the time when there was the need for the perfect book and religion which will serve mankind until Day of Judgment.
“The perfect book and religion could only be revealed to the perfect man whose spiritual strength was stronger than the mountains.His heart could bear the revelation that would have broken asunder the mountains.
“This was why the earlier prophets spoke so highly about him because in comparison to him, they were only servants.He was the manifestation of the attributes of Allah, the Almighty.We have no ability, indeed, to describe his loftiest status; we can only attempt it.”
Amir Trawally further explained that the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (AS), has said: “The sublime light which was bestowed on man i.e. the most perfect among them, was not shared by angles nor by stars; nor was it in the moon, nor in the sun, or in the oceans and the rivers; it was not to be found in the rubies or emeralds, nor in sapphires, not in pearls.
“It was not in any earthly or heavenly object.It was possessed only by the perfect man, manifestedin the most consummate way in the person of our leader and master, Muhammad, the chosen one, the chief of all the prophets, leader of those who live (in the sight of Allah).
“So that light was bestowed on that man and likewise, to a degree, on all who in their several ways were similar to him – sublime grace was possessed in its most perfect and consummate manifestation by our leader and master, the unlettered prophet, the truthful one, the one whose truth is testified to, Muhammad.”
