Sri Lanka: Governor and Chief Minister of North Central Province presented Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation


The Chief Minister gave priority to the Ahmadiyya delegation to accept the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation as there was a large size crowd to meet the Chief Minister.

All religions teach love and compassion and rejects violence in any form- remarks Secretary to the Governor of NCP of Sri Lanka.

A four member delegation from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sri Lanka (AMJSL) comprising Mr.A. Abdul Aziz, Press Secretary and National Director Faith Outreach – AMJSL, Moulavi A.B. Musthaq Ahmad – Chief Missionary (AMJSL), Moulavi K.M. Munir Ahmad (Missionary – Pasyala) and Murabbi Javid Raheem, visited Anuradhapura recently.

Anuradhapura is the capital city of North Central Province and 205 km north of Colombo. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization and 90% population is Buddhist Community.

The delegation visited Zonal Educational Office and met Mrs. Kumudini Aryawansa (Director) who warmly welcomed the delegation and accepted Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation with due respect. She said: This valuable gift will provide us the opportunity to read the scripture of other religion.

The delegation visited North Central Provincial Council and met Honorable Peshala Jeyarathne, Chief Minister of North Central Province. The Chief Minister gave priority to the Ahmadiyya delegation to accept the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation as there was a large size crowd to meet the Chief Minister.

Then the delegation visited Governor’s Office of the North Central Province and met Mr.Ananda Kularatne, Secretary to the Governor. He warmly welcomed the delegation and spent a long time to know about Islam Ahmadiyya. The delegation took this opportunity to highlight more about the Community and briefed about the tireless efforts being made by the Khalifa and the Ahmadiyya worldwide leader, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, by spreading the true teachings of Islam through various means, particularly addressing lawmakers at Capitol Hill, EU Parliament, in Ireland Parliament, and recently the Dutch Parliament. The Secretary remarked All religions teach love and compassion and rejects violence in any form.

The delegation further pointed out about the unique feature of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and said that this is the only Community which has Spiritual Leadership and termed as ““ONE COMMUNITY – ONE LEADER’. They added that the Community’s motto is ’LOVE FOR ALL; HATRED FOR NONE’. Secretary  arranged a cup of tea and instructed to his official photographer to take photos of the event. The Secretary also requested a copy of the Qur’an and another copy of the Qur’an presented to the Private Secretary of the Governor on his request.

Then the delegation proceeded to Rajarata University and met Secretary to the Vice Chancellor and gifted a copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. Also met the Librarian of the University to gift  copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. The librarian took a long time with the delegation as she showed much interest on the topic of Islam Ahmadiyya. Three copies were presented on request.

The delegation met Ven. Somaloka of Sri Bodhu Rukka Ramaya Temple and gifted a copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. While accepting, the Thero said: It is an unimaginable thing; a Muslim delegation presents Holy Qur’an by visiting their Buddhist Temple. This is the first ever incident in his life, the Thero added.

The delegation also visited Bhikku University of Sri Lanka – the University for the Buddhist Clergies and met Mr. Thinic Bandara, Asst.Librarian. He warmly welcomed and spent long time as he shown much interest on the topic: Islam Ahmadiyya. He was given four copies of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation on request.

As the Anuradhapura visit, the aim of which was to meet many Buddhist Monks, the delegation met one of the top Buddhist Clergy Ven. Nugethenne Pangnananda at Sri Samboddha Jeyanthi Viharaya. He welcomed the delegation by saying ‘Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Barakathuhoo’ and accepted the copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation.  As the Monk was about to leave for an important function, Ahmadiyya delegation was unable to sit and talk further .But the Venerable promised to contact the delegation and gave his contact details.

The delegation visited Open University of Sri Lanka – Anuradhapura Region and gifted a copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation to the library.

In the end, the delegation visited RAJARATA FM – Radio Station and met Mr. Dayananda Liyanarachchi – Controller, and briefed the purpose of the visit and gifted a copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. Also met another broadcast journalist and a non-Ahmadi employee. Both of them were gifted the copy of the Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation.

During this two-day visit, Ahmadiyya delegation visited a number of schools namely Central College, Anuradhapura, Swarnamali BalikaMaha Vidyalaya, Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya, St. Joseph College, Niwaththaka Chaithya Maha Vidyalaya, International Buddhist Library and Public Library of North Central Municipal Council and its Commissioner.  

To all of them, along with a copy of the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with some other literature including Peace Messages in English as well as Sinhala were presented. Moreover, the Sinhala Translation of the book ‘The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam’ written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Islam, was also presented.

True Islamic Caliphate – Caliph Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad – a video documentary - recorded CDs were also presented.
