"Allah honored the sacrifices  of Prophet Abrahim, Ishmael and Hajra in a manner that all Muslims invoke blessings on them in all their five daily prayers" said Shamshad Nasir

Members of the Chicago Ahmadiyya Muslim Community celebrated Eid-ul-Adha, a holy day honoring Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God’s pleasure, on Monday September 12th at Baet ul Jamay Mosque, Glen Ellyn.  Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated at the end of the hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca where millions of people gather for the unity of God . This celebration at Baet ul Jamay Mosque consisted of 600 Ahmadi Muslim members from different parts of Chicago and its surrounding area and guests from other countries as well Neighbors Muslim students from collage of the area,  The event started with the Eid-ul-Adha prayers followed by sermon by Imam Shamshad Nasir, Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Comunity in Midwest.

Imam Shamshad Nasir in his sermon explained the true meaning behind the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha and the sacrifice Abraham, Ishmael and Hager made for God’s pleasure.  He said this Eid is not only about sacrificing animal for God’s pleasure but is also about willing to sacrifice one's most precious object in order to receive God’s pleasure.  As Prophet Abraham was willing to sacrifice his most precious things, only for God; we should also strive for that high spirituality.  It was Prophet Abraham's intention that became so dear to God that He made muslims to give blessings to Abraham in daily five prayers. Furthermore, the celebration of Eid ul Azha is a muslim Holiday observed since thousands of years in which muslims follow the foot steps of Prophet Abraham and sacrifice animal in the name of God. He also said that on these joyous occasions we should never forget the less fortunate people and sacrifice our time and money only for the sake of God’s pleasure. Imam Shamshad Nasir also emphasized in his sermon that Islam means peace and our religion was established on the basis of peace.  Prophet Abraham and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them both) had made many sacrifices on the name of peace and we as their followers should follow their guidelines and establish peace in our society.

Later, the members greeted each other and children enjoyed various outdoor activities such as bouncy house, ice cones, candy cane and goodies. Members and guests were given some traditional sweets and refreshments, left the mosque on a happy note along with refreshing their spirit to sacrifice in their daily life.
