The rhetoric on the United States (US) political platform has not escaped the world head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community Mirza Masroor Ahmad, and he's having his say: The Republican nominee Donald Trump would not get his vote.
"We would prefer to vote in favour of that person who is daring and can do justice," Ahmad told The Sunday Gleaner at his London office in the United Kingdom.
Indeed, Trump may be bold, but the spiritual leader, also called the Caliph, does not think the American presidential hopeful will do justice, at least, given his outbursts on the political platform against Muslims calling for a ban on their travel to the US as a solution on terrorism.
Trump's sentiments worsened after his policy was challenged from a Democratic campaign stage by the Muslim parents of a slain US Marine who died under tragic circumstances in Iraq in 2004.
"Even now, if you see the situation, his own party members have started saying they will never vote in favour of him, so, what of me?" asked Ahmad, in his first public reaction since the Trump outbursts in July.
He continued, "If his party members dislike him because of his words and his policy he wants to implement, then obviously, I will never vote in favour of that person."
But Ahmad was quick to point out that his disapproval of Trump was not because of his sentiment towards Muslims only, reiterating that he was defending "justice" for all.
At the same time, Ahmad is proclaiming 'love for all, hatred for none' - the motto of the Ahmadiyyah Muslim community - his religion is battling scepticism and rejection the world over.
"It is a big challenge, but if you are determined then you are not going to leave this task," he said.
The rejection of the Ahmadiyya community continued with the persecution and execution of followers in several parts of the world last year, most of them reportedly perpetrated by Muslims from other sects.
Since the start of the year, one Ahmadi Muslim has been killed in the Punjab region of Pakistan, allegedly because of his faith.
This time last year, the tally was at two, way fewer than the 11 killed for the entire 2014, but that's no comfort for the Caliph, especially when he considers that since 1984, 250 Ahmadis have been murdered for religious reasons.
"There is a task, there is a mission," he said.
