Will the next generation of Americans understand the true Islam is a religion of peace?
In this day of age, Islamophobia is at its highest level, and instead of teaching our kids that Islam does not teach mass murder or even insulting someone, we as a society are too afraid. The Tennessee State Board of Education is poised to approve new social studies standards for middle schools that would reduce instruction on Islam. Now this does not solve a problem but instead ruins the mentality of the child as they grow up. Once they hear the media portraying Islam as religion of hatred instead of peace and love, they will no longer be able to tell whether what's right or wrong, is it the society or the religion?
We need to be able to differentiate between extremism and the actual teachings of the religion. The Holy Prophet once said that killing one man is as if killing all of mankind. Now, how can we still believe that these so called "jihadists" are even close to what the actual teaching of the Holy Quran and the Holy Prophet are?
The current head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said, "For the sake of the progress of a country, mutual love, affection and brotherhood are also extremely important. Without this, peace cannot be established in a country and without peace, progress cannot be achieved." Love and brotherhood are the key here. The fact that some are attempting to reduce the peace and harmony among Muslims and Americans does not solve a problem but instead creates one. We as a society need to know that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and we need to let our children know that too.
