A couple of Milwaukee men remain locked up in Texas after being charged in federal court with trying to join the Islamic State by traveling through Mexico to Syria.

Authorities say the FBI nabbed the two men traveling down US Highway 87 near San Angelo before they could make it across the border.

Thirty-five year old Jason Michael Ludke is charged with attempting to support a foreign terrorist organization.

Ludke's alleged partner in crime — 30-year-old Yosvany Padilla-Conde — is charged with aiding and abetting Ludke.

Both men face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, if convicted.

The Feds say Ludke contacted an undercover FBI agent on social media back in September and started plotting his path to join ISIS.

A federal complaint reveals Ludke "pledged his allegiance to the leader of ISIL" and also said "he's tired of living under the infidel's system."

Rizwan Ahmad, a spokesman for Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Milwaukee, said, "What we've identified is the biggest reason people are radicalized is lack of education."

Perhaps these two will have plenty of time to get educated — behind bars!
