As Ahmadiyya begins convention in Ilaro By  The Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Nigeria has said that the material acquisition by leaders at all levels, individuals is the root cause of all evils, injustice, oppression and man’s inhumanity to man in the country.

Dr Fashola also stated that politicians in the country, instead of pursuing national and overall interest of people who voted them into power are busy going after personal aggrandisement.

Speaking during a press briefing to herald the centenary celebration and 64th convention which commenced today at Ilaro, Ogun State, the leader of the Jamaat in Nigeria enjoined goodness to all irrespective of colour, race, ethnic or political differences even to repay evil with goodness.

According to him, “what Ahmadiyya Jama’at has been propagating for the past 100 years in Nigeria include: Faith in oneness and supreme sovereignty of God of all creation whose throne is based on grace, mercy, equitable sustenance of all creation, and justice.

“Others are Identification of and compliance with those transcendental attributes of God in one’s thoughts, words, and deeds, representing the basic objectives of religion. For such individuals, irrespective of class, creed, colour, race, gender and age, Allah draws them closer to Himself, grants them special protection, and listens to them.

“Opposition to those” divine” attributes in thoughts, words, and deeds, will ultimately lead to divine wrath upon the guilty people and annihilation of such people if they persist in evil, irrespective of their creed or religion, because divine wrath descends not on the basis of our religious or sectarian differences but on “account of widespread evils and wickedness. The wrath of God descends in order that goodness and good people may be protected from being destroyed by evil so that the kingdom of God prevails and the righteous ultimately inherit the earth and eternal Kingdom.

On economic recession, the scholar stated that “Nigeria is fortunate passing through this hardship as many other countries have gone through more devastating period. It is part of the wrath of God but it is minimal here. We are advising government to eradicate unemployment, and fill the minds of the youths with creativity.

“Suffering is not entirely bad, it can make our real virtues to blossom and the sufferings will be blessings in disguise. What happened today can lead to greatness tomorrow. We advice the government to focus on agriculture, we advocate for moral revolution."

Speaking on the convention themed: Redefining Moral Revolution For Sustainable Peace And Development: Post hundred Years of Ahmadiyya in Nigeria, Dr Fashola said Jalsa Salana (convention) is loaded with blessings such as acquiring religious knowledge and progress in the worship of their creator; mutual brotherhood that will strengthen the community; benefit from prayers of the founder, khallfa and congregation – including worldly and heavenly blessings; the elimination of all personal problems, grief and hardships, achievement of cherished goals, full protection for all loved ones, guidance, spiritual elevation among others.

He hinted that both the President and Vice President will be adequately represented at the 3-day event while some state governors have given their words to personally attend the event tomorrow.
