Hundreds of Young Muslims from across London teamed up with the Woodland Trust to plant 10,000 trees on Saturday.

The tree planting occurred at Langley Vale Wood. The event was aimed at promoting a service to humanity and the environment.

Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling MP attended and joined in with the effort. He was incredibly proud of the work of the youngsters:

“Hundreds of people were out planting new trees and really great to see so many members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community here helping out.

"This is creating something that will be a legacy for our generation, to the next and the one beyond.”

Campaign manager Abdul Lodhi led a silent prayer before commenting: "I don’t see this just as tree planting but something which brings the entire community together.

"It’s a way of integration and shows that Islam is a message of peace and tolerance."

The representative of the Woodland Trust said:

"The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association members made an incredible contribution to our tree planting in Langley Vale. Over 300 came, working until the job was done.

"10,000 trees were planted in Langley Vale today. We could not have done it without their help."
