'No Ordinary Convention'
The Ahmadiyya Muslim sect in Belize is organizing its third annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) for next weekend, January 27 and 28 at the IT-VET conference room in Belize City.
The religious event offers keen knowledge about the Ahmadiyya Muslims’ belief, that the long-awaited Messiah has already come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian.
Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth, whose advent was foretold by the Ptophet of Islam, Muhammad.
Ahmadiyya Muslims believe that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to put an end to religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. The Ahmadiyya’s claim Ahmad has united the family of religions under the banner of the true Islam by safeguarding the teachings of Abraham, Jesus, Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Confucius, Guru Nanak, Lao Tzu and Zoroaster.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Belize was established in November of 2013. The global community was founded in 1889 and the sect is present in 200 countries with an international membership said to number in the tens of millions.
