Our core basic values as humans are all the same and bind us together into a beautiful home we call the United States of America. This country guarantees liberty and justice for all, which boils down to one essential value, freedom of faith. As Ahmadi Muslims, we cherish these values and pledge to protect them.
However, there are certain nations like Pakistan where people are disenfranchised, imprisoned, tortured, murdered and discriminated against, simply because of their faith. Just last month, a mob attacked an Ahmadiyya mosque in Dulmial village, Chakwal District, which resulted int the death of a member. We strongly condemn this latest attack in a decades-long persecution of Ahmadis.
This state-backed injustice against Ahmadi Muslims is a result of the second amendment to the constitution of Pakistan adopted in 1974, which declares Ahmadis as non-Muslims. To make matters worse, Ordinance XX adopted in 1984 goes on to criminalize any attempt by Ahmadis to “pose” as Muslims.
We urge human rights organizations and governments of the world to raise their voices against these atrocities. An attack on one is an attack on all.
