“I think the No. 1 thing . . . is learning and understanding more about Muslims and what they stand for, and who they are and what their beliefs are,” said Safwan Choudhry, spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama at Canada.
He also encouraged people who are familiar with Islam to “take their voice to social media.”
“It doesn’t really necessarily have to be part of a big hashtag campaign or try to trend any specific topic, but rather just sharing their views with their friends or people they’re connected to,” he said.
“Often times, when you do that, you find out very quickly that there are people within your own circle who may have had a misunderstanding or certain views that it allows you an opportunity to help correct.”
