On Saturday, 30 communities across Canada took part in #IslamUnderstood, a campaign by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Kingston was one of those 30 locations, holding an event at the Isabel Turner Public Library in the west end. In an effort to open communication channels and end Islamophobia, the group
community is holding open houses for people to ask questions and learn about the Muslim culture.

“What we are doing here in Kingston, is basically taking a proactive measure to educate people more about Island, and the of religion Islam. You know many people have many misconceptions about Islam.

So the best way to remove and build bridges is to talk, dialogue, and you know talk to people. We believe is education, we are here to promote.”

In addition to the 30 communities that were visited today, they say they plan on reaching out to all 75 they are apart of across the country.
