Across the country, thousands of Ahmadiyya Muslim community members took part in the event.

More than 200 southeast Queensland members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, joined by guests, took part in the Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday, March 5.

More than 350 kilograms worth of rubbish was collected at four ‘clean up’ sites across the southeast – including New Farm Park, Middle Road Park, Stockleigh Road and Mount Lindesay Highway junction, and the Baitul Masroor Mosque – on Sunday, March 5.

Clean Up Australia Day activities started at 9am, with silent prayers led by Imam Ahmed Nadeem in Stockleigh.

A total of $620 was raised from members taking part in the event and donated to the Clean Up Australia Day group.

Volunteers and guests were then served with a complimentary barbecue following the event, which finished at 2pm.
