Young Muslims from Milton Keynes got together to help keep the streets and parks clean on Saturday, March 4.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Milton Keynes chapter took the initiative as part of the GB Spring Clean campaign being run by Keep Britain Tidy, by cleaning Stanton Low Park in Oakridge Park, with residents also present in support.

The group are also organising blood donation sessions, charity collections, children’s hospital and nursing home visits, and homeless feeding sessions.

Waqas Khokhar, youth leader for Milton Keynes, said: “Our youth are always looking for opportunities to help our local community. To participate in the street clean initiative is inspired by the teachings of Islam which remind us that helping people is a noble act of charity.

“We are peace loving British Muslims and will continue to do all we can to serve our local community as best we can and wherever there is a need.

“Cleaning the parks of Milton Keynes was extremely important as we feel we need to help the local authorities in every way possible. It also presents us with an opportunity to become better Muslims as cleanliness is an integral part of our faith.”
