LINDSAY – Area residents of all faiths are invited attend a special inter-faith Peace Symposium taking place Sunday (May 21) at the Academy Theatre for Performing Arts.

Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, the event runs from 2 to 5 p.m., beginning with registration at 1 p.m.

“The symposiums were initiated by the Muslin community a few years ago,” explained Khalid Daud, a Missionary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Canada, adding similar events have been organized in 29 countries around the world. “The aim is to bring together religious leaders to share scripture and discuss the issues of the day . . . to present how we can tackle issues of conflict and raise awareness and promote peace.”

Scholars include those from the Muslim, Jewish, Catholic and Hindu faiths who will be available for questions both during the event as well as afterwards.

The event is free of charge and all are welcome.

Refreshments will be served following the panel presentation.
