KIND–hearted community members put their best foot forward to raise money for good causes.

More than 50 people from Slough & South Bucks Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association. (AMEA Slough & South Bucks), joined a crowd of 4000 to walk for peace, raising much needed funds for over 90 UK charities.

The charities include Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Royal British Legion, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Salvation Army.

AMEA Slough & South Bucks is an auxiliary organisation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough & South Bucks.

The Charity Walk for Peace is an annual walk that takes place in May each year and aims to raise over £500,000 million pounds for charities.

This year’s walk was in held the Royal Docks area of Newham, London.

The 8km route, full of London landmarks, proved a breeze for both young and old and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It is expected that over a quarter of a million pounds was raised through the walk and the expectation is that over £750,000 will be collected by the end of the year, with all proceeds to be paid to the charities later this year.

Councillor Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough said: “This year we have seen an incredible show of unity from charities, organisations and members of the public who have come from around the UK to walk for peace to help raise funds for over 90 UK charities. When work on the Charity Walk for Peace began last year there was a motto that was used: Let’s work together.

“Today we have witnessed that indeed serving humanity through fund raising builds bridges of hope, friendship and brotherhood and we have seen the immense success when we do indeed work together for the greater good.”
