CHILDREN as young as four from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association Keighley (AMYA) took part in a charity walk to help a children's hospice.

They were among youth aged between seven and 15 from across the region who participated in the Mercy for Mankind event in aid of Forget Me Not Children's Hospice, in Huddersfield.

The Keighley contingent included Zakariyya Walker, aged four, who was the highest fundraiser in the region raising over £1,000 on his Just Giving page. Zakariyya said he wanted to take part in the walk "to make others smile."

Dr Adeem Rubani, the youth leader of AMYA Keighley, said: "Following the horrific acts we witnessed in Manchester in which innocent children were targeted, it was even more fitting for our children to carry out this act of kindness and help raise funds for their fellow youngsters.

"We totally condemn such heinous attacks and will do all we can to promote peace and kindness to our fellow citizens and especially towards those in need."

People can visit justgiving.com/fundraising/TheWalkers2017 where they can continue to sponsor Zakariyya.
