USA: Ahmadiyya Muslim Leader attends 'Meditation For Religious Harmony' in Long Beach

'To create understanding between the different religious communities'
LONG BEACH, California -- Imam Muhammad Zafrullah, regional missionary from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's Bailtul Hameed Mosque in Chino, and several members of his congregation were among the more then 700 people at the Long Beach Convention Center on Saturday, July 8th, to attended the Buddhist "Meditation For Religious Unity" prayer service organized by Master Hang Truong, founder of Compassionate Service Society.
The participants came from many ethnic groups including those from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, USA White, India, and the Middle East. According the organizers a third of those present were of Vietnamese origin.
Attendees, including some children as young as 10 years of age, sat on special mats on the floor of the room with specially blessed tea in front, and partook from the spiritual atmosphere.
The purpose of the meeting, the organizers says, is to create understanding between the different religious communities.
Some other spiritual leaders present included Rev. Alexei Smith, commissioner interreligious Archdiocese of Los Angeles; Mr. Ha Vu Bang, the European political Caodaism California; Professor Nguyen Thanh Giau, the head of the Executive Board of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Southern California, and secretary general of Council for Interreligious Vietnam in the United States; and Dr. Phillip Clayton, professor and theologian Catholic; and a large number of other Islamic clerics.
