In mid-July, I attended the annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA in Harrisburg, Pa. This convention, known as a Jalsa, is an opportunity for Ahmadi Muslims and their guests from all around the country to come together, to grow spiritually, and to help promote the peaceful religion of Islam. At the convention were a variety of speeches, meetings, and stalls all dedicated to teaching the true purpose of Islam. We invite non-Muslim guests to learn about the true Islam and get an opportunity to get to know practicing Muslims.

Similar such conventions are organized in many countries around the world, but perhaps the most important one is in the United Kingdom. It was held the last weekend in July. The UK's is probably the most important because the Khalifa of Islam, the spiritual leader of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmed, is the convention's leader. The added presence of the Khalifa really shines a brighter light on what Islam really teaches.

While organizations like ISIS stray toward violence and murder to teach their "religion," the Khalifa gives guidance like, "Those who shed the blood of the innocent have nothing to do with Islam." This really shows that the true islam is about peace and love — and not the violence shown by extremists.
