Hot food for Slough's homeless community was handed out at St Mary's Church in the town's centre on Sunday.

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough and South Bucks joined with the team behind the London and Slough run to serve more than 50 hot dishes.

Hot lamb soup, lamb rice, boiled eggs and sandwiches were handed out to regular users of the service from the town's homeless.

Councillor for Burnham Parish Council, Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, who is President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough and South Bucks said: “This is a difficult time of the year for the homeless, especially with the cold weather snap and the least we can do is to prepare fresh hot meals for them and serve them.

"This week we were also able to donate food items to the Salvation Army in Slough and hope to continue our regular efforts in supporting the homeless in Slough.”
