Ahmadiyya lays foundation of new mosque prays for Gambia’s prosperity and stability
The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, The Gambia, Maulana Baba F. Trawally, has led other dignitaries to lay the foundation stone of a new Ahmadiyya mosque in Basse, upper River Region.
In his speech at the occasion, Amir Trawally said that the purpose of man’s creation is to worship Allah the Almighty and submission to His will, noting that Islam is founded on five pillars, the foremost of which is to worship and testify to the unity of Allah Almighty and the prophethood of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW).
“The foremost of the practical demonstration of the teachings of Islam is Salat- the prescribed Muslim prayer. The mosques are built for that purpose. Allah has promised that anyone who builds a mosque for him, He will build a house for such a one in paradise” the Amir said.
He further emphasized that mosque should be inhabited with righteousness, the fear of Allah Almighty, submission to His will and commands and to be devoted to raising the spiritual and moral status of the worshippers.
He also revealed that according to their plans, the mosque will have a capacity of 300 worshipers and cost about three hundred and fifty thousand dalasis (D350,000). Amir Trawally finally hailed the dedication, commitment, contribution and voluntary work of the Ahmadis in the Upper River Region.
Amir Sahib extended the salaam and prayer of His Holiness, Hadrat Khalifatul Masih V (ATBA), Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at to the gathering. “The Khalifa is always praying for the peace, stability, security and prosperity of the country.” He concluded his remarks by reminding the congregation to always pray fervently for the peace and prosperity of The Gambia. He said that peace is the priceless jewel that the country enjoys thus the religious tolerance and peace that is being enjoyed.
In his remarks, Governor Alhagie Omar Khan of the Upper River Region paid homage to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat for their long standing contributions to the socio-economic development of The Gambia, particularly in the fields of education, health and religion. Whilst thanking the Jamaat for their stance to national development, Governor Khan finally assured them of the government’s continuous partnership and support to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. The ceremony was attended by a cross section of Imams, Alkalolus, government officials and the media. Mr. Mamadi Ceesay, principal of Nasir SSS chaired the occasion.
