Nigeria: Ahmadiyya are Nestle Milo basketball champs

Speaking with newsmen, the head of school sports of the state ministry of education, Malam Ibrahim Yahaya, expressed satisfaction with the sportsmanship exhibited by the participating schools and urged them to sustain the tempo.

Ahmadiyya College basketball teams of Kano have emerged the overall winners of this year’s state final of Nestle Milo Basketball Championship for secondary schools (boys and girls) categories ahead of Savannah Conference for the Northwest zone tournament.

the championship, which was organised by the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) in conjunction with Nestle Milo is an annual event competed at zonal, state conferences and national levels.

In the boys category, Ahmadiyya College defeated Aminu Kano Commercial College 36-25 while their girls hammered Government Girls College, Dala, Kano 19-10 respectively.


The encounter was played at the Indoor Sports Hall of Sani Abacha Stadium attracted about 150 secondary schools in the state who participated in the championship and the winners in both boys and girls category will now represent the state in the northwest’s competition tagged: ‘’Savannah Conference’’ scheduled to hold later in the year.

Speaking with newsmen, the head of school sports of the state ministry of education, Malam Ibrahim Yahaya, expressed satisfaction with the sportsmanship exhibited by the participating schools and urged them to sustain the tempo for the overall development of the game within and outside the state.

The representatives of Nestle Milo Plc, Alhaji Shehu Abdulsalam however, presented the trophies to Ahmadiyya captains of both boys and girls at the occasion
