Many citizens of Conyers, a town of 15-thousand population in Georgia, took advantage of a free car wash event at Shell at 1057 West Ave., organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC), Women’s Auxiliary on March 13th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This was the first such event by AMC in Conyers and served as a positive introduction of the community to the local residents.
In these harsh economic times, when increase in gas prices and high unemployment rates are breaking people’s backs, the local community welcomed this event.
A local newspaper, Rockdale Citizen, published a news brief announcing the free car wash a week prior the event. The news and a banner on location a couple of week before helped in getting people’s attention.
The local community took advantage of the event and the outcome was remarkable. A total of 136 happy customers availed the opportunity and got a $6 car wash for free, making it a great success.
“Ahmadi Muslims are loyal citizens of this country,” said Mudasser Ahmed, a father of two and an Ahmadi Muslim himself, who facilitated the car wash. “We do our part as good citizens and give back to the community.”
“Actions like these when people help each other regardless of their faith and race makes communities grow stronger,” says S. Ahmad, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of AMC in Suwanee, Georgia
“Ahmadi Muslims women feel the pain of fellow Americans and distinguish themselves in community service activities in whatever capacity they can,” Ms. Ahmad further added
