The 35th annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Canada came to an end today at the International Centre.
Bob Rae, interim leader for the Liberal Party of Canada, Mississauga-Erindale MPP Harinder Takhar and Etobicoke North MPP Kristy Duncan delivered speeches to cap off the three-day event.
"We affirm our patriotism and loyalty to Canada - our homeland," said Lal Khan Malik, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Canada.
"We give a message of unity, love and peace to all fellow Canadians."
Over 15,000 people were in attended the event this weekend.
Before the Friday prayer, those in attendance were addressed by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the spiritual head of the community, via satellite from Germany.
The convention also included presentations on spiritual and contemporary issues, such as the Islamic perspective on Blasphemy, commonalities of faith and the relationship between Islam and the West.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, a global religious organization, has over 10 million followers in more than 190 countries.
