NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Niagara Falls Police arrested a woman Thursday night for third degree assault, charged as a hate crime, after an attack at the Dollar Tree on Portage Road.
Police responded to the store around 8:30 p.m. Witnesses tell police 32-year-old Antoinette Ivey assaulted a 26-year-old woman of Pakistani origin. The victim was walking to meet her husband when Ivey and another female driving by in a van allegedly began to taunt her using racial and ethnic slurs, eventually pulling over and assaulting the victim. The victim suffered contusions and pain and swelling to her head and body. Ivey allegedly knocked her to the ground and repeatedly kicked her.
Ivey is being held on $750 bail. The investigation into a second female involved in the crime is continuing.
