THIS is with reference to your [Dawn] editorial ‘Blasphemy sentence’ (June 23) which is about a man who has been sentenced to death for committing blasphemy via cellphone text messaging.

When we were making our documentary Blind Faith on the misuse of blasphemy laws in Pakistan, we found out that most cases were registered for personal or business reasons.

We also discovered the inefficient side of our judiciary and police when it came to cases concerning blasphemy. In one case a 79-year-old woman from Layyah spent nine months in jail without any charge. It is time we stood up to evil forces.
