Pakistan: Politicians, lawyers protest against the killing of senior advocate and Ahmadi leader

The lawyers have announced a boycott of the courts' proceedings and have demanded of the government to take the killers to task.

Nawabshah: A Senior advocate was killed here late Monday evening when unidentified armed men opened fire on him near Maryam road.

As per details, Advocat Malik Mabroor Ahmad was going to his office, by taking the usual route, when the armed men opened fire on him.

The culprits fled soon after the incident. Malik Ahmad was rushed to Peoples Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the latest media reports, Malik Ahmad, a prominent lawyer and a leader of the local Ahmadiyya Muslim community was a target of anti-Ahmadi hate campaign and death threats.

The lawyers have announced a boycott of the courts' proceedings and have demanded of the government to take the killers to task.

After hearing about the incident, MPAs Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Zia-ul-Hasan and MQM's Sadiq and members of the law fraternity rushed to the hospital and recorded protest.

The body was handed over to heirs after postmortem.
