The 45th UK Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community is set to begin on Friday, 22 July at Hadeeqatul Mahdī, an English countryside near Alton, a 55 mile drive from London.

The Convention is scheduled to last for 3 days starting after Friday prayers.

The Friday Sermon will be delivered by the Khalīfa of Islām, His Holiness, Hadhrat Mirzā Masroor Ahmad, the supreme spiritual leader of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

After the Friday prayers, the convention will start with hoisting of flags, a hallmark ceremonial feature of the convention, where the convention-goers - along with millions of viewers worldwide - will see Ahmadi Muslims raise Liwa-e-Ahmadiyyat (Ahmadiyya Flag) and the Union Jack, the British flag.

The event attracts delegates from the world over and up to 30,000 are expected to attend this year.

This year again members from more than 50 countries will unite, as they have done annually, to declare that service to one's country, good citizenship and loyalty are acts of faith.

The Inspection of Jalsa Salana preparations was conducted by Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad on Sunday evening.

Hadhrat Ahmad gave necessary last minute instructions to the volunteers about preparedness, safety for all, and above all, to set the ‘greatest example of hospitality’ as emphasized by the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirzā Ghulām Ahmad of Qādiān, India.

His Holiness counseled all Ahmadis to pray for the success of Jalsa Salana.

"Greet each other with smiles," said Holiness. "If you had any rancour, end them with smiles in these three days."

Hadhrat Ahmad reminded the community that the event is "not a festival but a Jama'at [community] convention."

"Do not think that you are participating in a festival," said His Hilliness. "...and do not waste your time in personal meetings or in buying or selling or showing off the latest fashions."
